Letter I
was told the other day that people are twice as likely to pay attention if you offer “Bad News” rather than “Good News”. Hence the title of this month’s newsletter - in spite of the fact that I only have good news to tell you.
I’ve raised this point as June’s newsletter is full of poker related stuff that is free and I would like you to consider for a second whether you believe that or not. The truth is that there is a lot of free stuff to be gained in the poker world if you know where to look.

I am going to recommend three other poker related things that are free and will attempt to justify how and why they are indeed free:

1. $150 Free at Titan Poker, no deposit required:

No deposit poker bankrolls are an innovative way to promote an online poker room. A player gets free money, in this case $30 to start with, and a $120 bonus. The initial $30 cannot be withdrawn and has to be played with. However, if you were to turn it into $130 the $100 profit is yours to withdraw if you wish.

The motive behind this offer is quite simple. Give out a load of free money and hope that people continue to play for a long time recouping all the free money and more.

2. Free 5 day trial of Poker-Edge

Trials are something that are obviously free and the intention behind them is clear. They want you to try the product, enjoy it and then buy it. Poker-Edge is a fantastic piece of poker software that will give you information and statistics about the people you are playing poker against. It also classifies people into certain categories to help you see what kind of player they are. I use it all the time and highly recommend you at least give it a try.

Its strength is that it provides a lot of information; however this can be confusing when you first start using it. Therefore I recommend to start with you only concentrate on 2 things.

a) How often the players to your left defend their big blinds. If they fold to a raise a high percentage of the time you’ll know you can get away with stealing their blinds regularly. Conversely, if you know they like to defend their big blind, you’ll save yourself chips by only raising with premium hands.

b) How often a player raises pre-flop. If this percentage is too high you'll know it’s less likely that this player has a big hand and can feel more confident calling the raise or perhaps raising them back. Conversely if a player raises, who only raises pre-flop something like 5% of the time, you can give them the credit of having a good hand and lay down your marginal hand and save yourself a lot of chips.

I guarantee you that if you only concentrate on these two factors, whilst using the Poker-Edge software, you will see immediate results. Hopefully you'll be able to earn enough in 5 days to purchase a subscription this software.

3. Freerolls

I now have a freeroll table that will tell you where and when the next big freeroll is starting. Freerolls are tournaments that are free to enter but award money to players who do well. It’s a great way to get experience at playing tournament poker without risking any of your own money.

Every online poker room offers these tournaments as an incentive to get new players to join their online poker room. If you take a look at the freeroll table you will see that PokerStars tends to have the most freeroll tournaments and also offers the most prize money.
